I like the idea here, but the Mets seem like all of their chips are down this year. Their one weakness last year was the bullpen, and they've signed Betances to alleviate that. Don't forget, Edwin Diaz is still there as well, and a bounce-back year from him would help even more. If Syndergaard were, say, a Rockie or a Tiger? I think this deal makes sense as both seem to be teetering on the edge of a rebuild. But a team that could very well steal a wild card spot like NYM? I can't see it happening.
