7Jonah, why would Cleveland trade a young, recent number one pick for a struggling reliever and a no name prospect? Why do you think that Cleveland would be interested in this? You seem to be really interested in Espino considering the number of trade offerings you have posted. Don't you think the Indians feel the same way about him.
Yeah Maybe The package isnt sufficient. Maybe the Dodgers would need to add a mid Tier prosect such as DJ Peters and maybe that still wouldn't be quite enough. I think the BTV undervaleus Espino and My interst in Him made me make an unrealsitic trade.
I get that you guys are Indians fans, but Espino is a consensus 45 FV prospect, and his valuation number reflects exactly that. We're not prospect scouts -- we just translate the consensus ratings into their equivalent valuations. So if you think he's undervalued, the argument would be with the scouts, not us.
Thank you, Jonah, for your response. I know that Dodger fans like their prospects so I wondered why you like him so much. John, MLB.com has Espino as a 50 FV prospect. Perhaps, as an Indian fan, I have interest in any pitcher that the Indians have since they have had a knack of developing pitchers despite a lack of prospect helium.
Espino Interests me because once hes fullly developed he could have a true four pitch mix. He has the uspide of a legitimate ace if he can stay healthy and if he can't be a starter he could be an elite weapon out of the pen.
Thanks again for your response. The Cleveland organization does a great job developing pitchers the last few years so I am hesitant to see them trade anyone that thought highly enough to pick #1. I guess I am like the Dodgers since I don't like to trade top prospects. A team like the Indians needs their top prospects to add to the team to keep payroll down. I sure hope the your Dodgers and my Indians get to play sometime this summer. Stay safe!
Hi John, Yeah, we decided a while ago that we wouldn't use MLB.com ratings, as we find them to be consistently inflated, and their write-ups tend to avoid criticism. We think the fact that they are funded by the teams themselves creates a political issue where they have to be positively biased. So we don't include them in our model.
