I don’t think they would have to give up this much, but as a Giants fan, there is no way we are trading for Chapman and Olson. I haven’t heard any rumors about it, but there’s no way the As are willing to part with their 2 young stars, and there is no way the giants are giving up their whole farm system.

I suspect this proposal was intended to illustrate how hard it would be to do so, for either side. But your point that the A's would not part with their two stars would suggest that they wouldn't do so without getting a king's ransom in return, so in that light we stand by our model here -- it would indeed take "this much" value to get both. And if anything, if the A's were to trade their two stars to their cross-town rivals, they'd want even more value back to compensate for to the massive PR hit such a trade would have on them. And you're right that it would make no sense for the Giants to trade away many of their best prospects, since they're rebuilding. So I think most people here would agree this one is not realistic for multiple reasons.

NOTE: this is not an actual trade proposal, but an illustration to certain Giants' fans just how much they'd have to give up when they suggest "LOL we'll just trade for Chapman and Olson in the offseason". TL;DR "Ain't happening"
