Probably a little hopeful with this one, but with Sonny's price at his highest it will be right now, and the fact that the Angels are looking for SP (and assuming they can't sign Bauer) I could possibly see a trade like this go down. Angels get back an excellent SP in Gray who will solidify that rotation, admittedly not as much as Bauer, but still very much be most likely their ace, pushing them further into playoff contention with Trout and Rendon. Reds get back a solid young arm to add to their core in the next couple years with Lodolo and Greene, an exciting outfield piece that could match up with Winker and Senzel, and a solid 1B that can platoon time with an aging and very bad Votto. Of course however, I'm not very well attuned to what the Angels thoughts are as regarding their current top prospects and whether or not they'd be willing to deal them, or about what their plans are for Walsh and if he's the 1B of the future for them, so let me know!

Wow, interesting trade idea! I think a number of Angels fans are hesitant to part with Detmers, but for a pitcher like Sonny Gray, I could see this happen. In fact, strangely enough, Walsh might be the sticking point since the Angels need someone to take over 1st base after Albert leaves after 2021. If the Reds were open to another player or prospect instead (even with slightly more value), Adams + Detmers + such a player is a workable structure. But I think if I'm Minasian I pull the trigger anyway. Walsh looks like he has a lot of upside, but there's no gaurantee he repeats his 2020 performance. And the Angels need pitching. Sonny Gray checks a lot of boxes for what the Angels really need moving forward. Cincinnati might not do this though and would likely get better offers. So maybe this speculation is all moot anyway. Still, I like it for the Angels at least! Thumbs up!
