Folks here fail to understand something when it comes to these trades. The Indians, or no other team for that matter is going to trade a player of Ramirez's value and take a loss. Even if it's .4M like this trade shows. The team acquiring him is going to have to overpay. Cleveland does not need to cut payroll, he's very affordable, clearly one of the most valuable players in baseball, and is controlled for the next 3 yrs.

Solidly structured deal... Braves solve their LF void created when Ozuna became a FA and demanded a multi-year contract.. Jose Ramirez fills their 3B need this and the next two years.. and Noah Song is an SP prospect stolen at his draft position by the Red Sox.. Indians have three primary position player areas of need.. C, OF and, if Ramirez is moved, 3B.. these three guys are all under team control for the full monty while offering the Tribe their best prospect for each of the three slots. Austin Riley may even be able to fill the Tribe's need for a LF'er if one of the Indians minor leaguers show he is ready.. The Red Sox off loaded the Benintendi contract and sacrificed Noah Song.. for these two guys, the Sawx received a pair of immediate players for their ML club, a hard throwing RP and a defense first CF'er that may rival (not surpass) the defensive ability of JBJr.. The two added prospects are interesting on their own.. Sandlin is a side winding RHRP that has a history of getting anyone who stands in the batters box out.. while Harris is a highly athletic OF'er with quite a bit of upside.. For the 9.1 MM spent to get these four guys, the Sawx have a bargain..
