The conversation would quickly end when Bogaerts is mentioned. The Brewers are one of, if not the smallest market in MLB. They just don't have the cash of the big market teams like the Red Sox, Yankees, cubs, Dodgers, etc..... Bogaerts is making what would be about 1/4 of the Brewers projected payroll ($83M).

The Brewers have the second smallest television market in MLB. But in 2019 they drew close to 3 million fans and had an opening day payroll of $140 million. And according to a Yahoo article in August of 2020 their owner has a net worth of over $700 million, which is $200 million more than the Padres ownership group. They also had Braun's contract come off the books which happens to be the same amount as Bogaerts so it would simply reallocating that $20 million. My point is the Brewers can afford to take on a contract like Bogaerts and should for the sake of not wasting Yelich's prime.

I thought Seidler was a partner in the Padres group. His worth is in the 3-4billion range. Because their TV money is so small, the Brewers depend on gate revenue more than any other team in baseball. They had a big gate in 2019 and still lost money. They had to cut payroll significantly. With zero dollars from the gate, 2020 was a huge financial loss for them. Their payroll is going to be around $83-88M this year. So you can see how Bogarts' contract is impossible to take on.
