This trade seems like a potential swap that the Reds and Rays that would help benefit both clubs. In short the Reds get the short stop they want and need along with Nick Senzel’s replacement in centerfield in the form of Kevin Kiermaier along with a solid reliever. The Rays get Nick Senzel who has five more years of control, while also getting a major league ready starting pitcher Nick Lodolo who could be an instant impact in their rotation.

Rays have KK's replacement in J.Lowe, who is a MUCH better defender than Senzel and will probably have as good a bat, maybe better. J.Lowe is a post-June call up for the Rays in 2021. I can't see the Rays wanting Senzel at 3B either, given his very lukewarm bat. Rays say no to trading Adames for Senzel. As for KK, the Rays won't be trading him off a -9.7 value.

Senzel has massive upside if he could just put it all together. He also has some very good defensive potential, but yes I agree that the Rays would probably say no. The only the Rays say yes is if they want to get rid of Kiermaier’s contract which is a possibility.

Reds rushed Senzel's development. He might put it all together and he might not, but he's trying to learn on the fly at the Major league level. I feel bad for him, but rushing prospects to the Majors is what bad teams do. Reds did the same to Garcia last year. I think the Rays will easily trade KK once JBJ signs, and lets face it, KK will be the best CF for the Rays in 21 if he stays, so keeping him isn't the worst thing. Mets, Giants, and D-Backs could all use upgrades at CF, among others.
