6We just traded for Arias (Clev trade), and I doubt they'd want to trade him. A lot of people are really high on Arias, although Hendricks is also highly thought of.
CLE clears roster space (2) as well as MI INF space to help with their upcoming crunch. They have the guys to fill those 2 roster spots in their farm already, and get back a good OF prospect who is very far away. Reds get their SS, and also get 2 intriguing SS who they can try and develop for when Rosario leaves/moves to 2B
it's more just trying to turn value into value. they have like 10 guys who are either rostered or NEED to be rostered end of 2021 for R5. Rocchio, Freeman, Miller, Bracho are all MI who need to be rostered in 2021 and are thought of as highly as Arias. They need to turn this into 1-2 good OF prospects who don't need to be rostered until after 2021.
Ok but if they're gonna bundle them to get guys, wouldn't they want to get a Joey Gallo, Lourdes Gurriel type of guy? They've shown they still want to compete with the moves they've made this offseason, and I doubt they'd give up their high-end prospects for more high-end prospects. I think the Rosario for Callihan and Roa makes sense, I just don't get the Arias-Hendricks part
For sure, and Henrick is quite far away. They are in a weird spot. Naylor is maybe moving to 1B, so do they need more OFers? Can Johnson platoon with Luplow? It is certainly a weird spot where they just aren't really sure WHERE they need to make additions. They have so many questions
Good point. Recently, I've been trying to find trades for OFers with the Indians giving up Rosario or some of their IF prospects (Rodriguez, Bracho, Rocchio, Miller), but I have seen numerous 1B trades for the Indians. I think it'd be smart to get another outfielder, with Naylor moving to 1B, but that's just my opinion. It all depends on who the Indians like at each spot. If they like Bradley or Bauers, they don't need another outfielder, because they'll put Naylor in the OF. If they like Naylor at 1B, then they'll need another outfielder, but if they are fine with the team they have now, then the Rosario trade would just net them prospects years away from the bigs, but I doubt they do that. I bet they go out and get an Aristedes Aquino, Tommy Pham, type of guy (guys not projected to start on their team), or possibly Andrew Benintendi or Joey Gallo.
