There's no way the A's are taking on that much of Price's contract. Even with the $12M kicked in--and the $32M BOS is paying him over the remaining two years--that still leaves him owed $10M in '21 and '22. Not to mention Kelly's contract.

Down vote. Dave Price is getting paid $32 MM a year for the next two seasons. Boston is paying approximately half that salary. I can only assume BTV's calculation is factoring the Boston money, meaning there's an extra $32 MM "hidden" in the matrix and heading towards Oakland. The $12 MM in cash you tangibly include will cover the remainder of Joe Kelly's guaranteed salary... which means Best Case scenario, Oakland is on the hook for $16 MM annual for David Price. Worst Case has the Dodgers pocketing $32 MM in Boston subsidy and the A's needing to pay $32 MM annual for two years. This is a not good deal for the A's either way.
