4Yeah the A's need to clear some spots on the 40 man roster. If they can by the way of doing that get Frazier, that would be cool for my A's
Agreed! That was the thought with this trade, A's need to drop 3-4 guys from the 40 man and they have a glut of AAAA outfielders.
Pirate fan chiming in. Pirates really haven't been interested at all in their major league roster so getting 3 AAAA outfielders I don't think would interest them. I get the 40 man roster swap and I don't have delusional values of Frazier, but I would think 1 AAAA outfielder and some prospect with a little more glitter than Armanteros would be more likely. While Pirates 40 man is not exciting, I don't see them having any interest in getting rid of 2 of their current 40 man for very low upside outfielders.
I would have to agree with SouthernBuc. While Pittsburgh's outfield was horrendous last year, I feel like they've stockpiled enough internal candidates already. Aside from Kemp possibly replacing Frazier at 2B, I can't see any of the other pieces being worthwhile pickups. Fowler hasn't been nearly the same since his injury, and is out of options. And if I was the Pirates, after years of organizational toxicity in the clubhouse, I wouldn't go anywhere near Skye Bolt. No interest in adding a vocal racist to the 40 man. Armentaros has potential as a power/speed threat ala Luis Robert but he'll need to stop striking out >40% of the time for that to be a reality. Could be a change of scenery candidate but could equally as likely be a bust.
