You were faster than me at responding to my own trade! I like that trade you proposed, but I had just read an article on MLB.com about the Dodgers potentially trying to get below the MLB draft part of the luxury tax and wanted to see how the Braves could help with that. I could definitely see them keeping price and not worrying about the 10 spot drop in draft pick due to the luxury tax.
Dodgers likely won't wouldn't want Inciarte. They already have Pollock, Belli, and Betts in the OF with DJ Peters waiting and Chris taylor who can also play OF. Also think Dodgers would like to hold on to Price. I think they would be open to trading Neuse/Pages though. How about simplifying the trade and giving the braves Pages/Neuse while receiving Newcomb/Davidson/De La Cruz. I think that would be more beneficial to the Dodgers and the Braves.
Luxury Tax trade: Dodgers drop $32M in 21 and 22 with Price's Salary and pick up $8.7M with Inciarte. This gets them under the luxury tax tier that starts to impact their draft picks. Inciarte is basically a 4th/5th outfielder for the Dodgers. Sean Newcomb is a bullpen arm and trade chip for later in the season. Tucker Davidson is a low risk AAA pitcher and a top 10 prospect in the Braves system. He could be a trade chip as well if he has a good start in AAA and the Dodgers don't have room for him. Braves get David Price who sat out 2020. Time will tell if that means he's fresh or rusty from the year off. Braves also solve their backup 2B/3B/SS problem if Camargo plays like 2019/2020 Camargo with Sheldon Neuse. Andy Pages is only 19 and hasn't played higher than Rookie ball but he hit 43 XBH in 63 games in 2019. He's a risk/reward flyer. Kind of the opposite of Tucker Davidson who is low risk but has a ceiling of a #3.
Well the main reason the Dodgers would want to do this trade is to get under luxury tax tier. This wouldn't help them achieve that. They would still be 2.7 mil above the luxury tax. Red Sox are paying half of Price's contract for 2021. So that means the dodgers only have to pay 16 mil. If the dodgers were doing this trade as a luxury tax trade, they could add in Chris Taylor and get another prospect
or the Braves could pay part of Inciarte's salary.
Yeah I hadn't thought of that... I would like that. Maybe the Braves can pay 3 mil. That would get the Dodgers under.
I think the braves could definitely help the Dodgers in that regard... Maybe the braves can keep Inciarte, and trade him to the astros? They are needing another outfielder after losing Springer and Reddick.
I'll mess around and try a 3 team Braves Dodgers Astros trade and see if I can work something out.
