2Cleveland considers themselves a contender in the AL Central and still controls Jose Ramirez for 3 years on a team friendly deal. It would take a tremendous overpay to convince the Indians to trade him and this proposal is far from an overpay. Cleveland says no. The Braves live on with Austin Riley in 2021.
I agree John, but I would love to see Cleveland acquire Riley in a different deal. I don't expect you or anyone else to share my sentiments, but I think that he is about to explode. All he has to do is improve his walk and batted ball rates ever so slightly. He's only 24 and was a career 283/348/501/849 hitter in the minors. I think he'll migrate towards those numbers as he matures and if that happens then you're talking about a big time run producing bat. There have been glimpses of what he can do, just nothing consistent yet.
