I think you either misread the values or didn't see the "Major Overpay" sign: The Indians' return is only rated a 68.70, not an 86.70. Plus, Webb wouldn't be needed, and neither would Bailey. Swap them out for a 35 value prospect.
Terrible idea from Cleveland's perspective. Especially when they're getting the short end of the value stick. You want Ramirez then it's going to require an overpay. What is offered in this deal is laughable.
Im sorry what did they get from the lindor trade, if there was a front office to make the deal it would be the indians due to the lack of return the they gotten in past trades
To see you even suggest such silliness tells me everything I need to know about your knowledge of trade values. There is no comparison and notyou explained it to you sensibly. Before this discussion can continue you need to acknowledge the fact that Ramirez's value far exceeds what Lindor's did at the time of the trade.
Lindor had 1 year left and was rated around 35M in value for that year, and the return reflected that on this site, amounting to a top SS prospect, a couple solid low minors prospects, and A Rosario. That's pretty good if you ask me. Jose has several years left, is way cheaper, and is just a better player. There is no comparison.
Lindor was a top 3 shortstop at the time and was traded for 1 good prospect i understand the indians had to trade him but the return should have been better
According to who? The value appeared to even out roughly according to conventional calculations for the contracts involved, including this site. IIRC Lindor's value sat comfortably under 40M at the time for 1 year which feels accurate, and most top prospects usually sit around 25-30M, which was the value of Gimenez. Wolf, Greene, and Rosario are not valueless either. Cleveland will not be accepting an underpay on the magnitude of 30M for 2.5 years of a perennial top 3 MVP caliber player on an extremely cheap contract.
I have zero doubt ramirez is a better player than lindor but i also consider the front office cleaveland has which is a middle of the pack
The Cleveland FO is regarded as one of the best in the industry and has provided many of the FO personnel for several teams.
Just wondering how many players primes have they wasted, the indians have one of the longest world series droughts, and probably isnt going to change with the what the FO is going

More to this.. At the time of the deal.. Lindor + Carrasco looked like an overwhelming win for the Mets.. It hasn't come to pass.. The original deal had the Mets sending 40.8 MM in value to the Indians (Andres Gimenez 28.3 + Isaiah Green 4.5 + Amed Rosario 4.5 + Josh Wolf 3.3). The Mets received CC + Lindor at 8.8 + 32.8, respectively, or 41.6 MM return. As of this writing..the Mets now realize a value of -45.4 (most of it due to the horrendous contract the Mets offered/negotiated with Lindor) according to BTV while the Indians are realizing a value of 51.7 MM. This, btw, is a "normal" deal for the Indians.. they acquire players and prospects that are growing in value.. Given the financial resources, skill and understanding of the trade market by the Cleveland Front Office.. the Indians usually do well with deals because they're giving up a proven product.. The deal you are suggesting is a deal Cleveland would be marginally interested in pursuing, but, only if it makes sense. A nearly $ 20 MM underpay..isn't something the Indians do.. As suggested below... even the deal out and it might make sense.. Thanks for posting, anyway...
