2How does this help the Brewers's situation in any way? They throw away the best reliever in the game for a prospect they don't need, another low level throw-in, and a 31 yr. old, very back of the pen reliever. The Brewers already have Adames at SS with Turang in AAA. This makes the Brewers much worse at a time they will be fighting for post-season contention.
jmont1, I agree that this trade doesn't benefit the Brewers if you have a short time window. Groshans is a future 3B for the Brewers. Check out his MLB prospect profiles. He will be in AAA next year and the chances are good that he could be with the Brewers in 2023 for 6 years. Mayza is LHRP with 4 years of control who has good numbers if you look closely. Van Eyk is a lottery ticket. Check out the Fangraphs evaluations in July and August, 2021. I want to maximize Hader's value, and I'm looking with a longer horizon that 2-3 years. Thanks for your input.
