Convoluted bad contract swap. Justifications for each team: Washington - The Nats save a little cash in the swap (.75 M in 2022) and add a potential future relief piece in the deal. The 1 M the A's are sending is for Piscotty's 2023 buyout, so Washington can cut Piscotty or see if he can return to previous form (particularly if the NL adopts the DH). Colorado - The Rockies save a little bit of money (1 M) and acquire an talented reliever who they hope can pitch at the end of games for them. They also clear out an outfield spot for a planned winter acquisition. Oakland - A rare deal where the A's take on some money (1.75 M in 2022) and offer to pay down Piscotty's contract in 2023. They gamble on a Will Harris return to health and buy low on Tapia, who they hope can re-capture some of his former prospect shine

A's would be better served holding onto Piscotty (run out the 1yr/$8.5M left for a local boy) & hoping Trivino returns to form. They certainly aren't going to PAY $1M+Trivino to offload Piscotty and then gamble on TWO players recovering form.

Yes, probably true. This is more a reshuffling of assets, but you're right that the simplest and most likely solution is to keep both Trivino and Piscotty and hope they get better. Thanks for the feedback
