1This is an interesting trade. Gilbert looked great as a rookie while Patino struggled with control. Rays would love to have Gilbert’s production in 2022. That said, Patino should be the better pitcher if his control comes around, so giving up Patino AND Brujan AND Glasnow for Gilbert seems a stretch to me … unless the Rays have lost faith in Patino. Even then, I doubt the Rays give up $65MM in trade value for a pitcher. That’s not the Rays Way. Rays say no, but I found the potential trade intriguing.
