2I like the trade for both teams. The only concern I see is White requiring Rule 5 protection but only being in A+ ball. That probably doesn’t work for the Rays. Rays already have a young and deep roster, plus 14 top prospects requiring Rule 5 protection later this year. Rays will only be able to protect 5-6 prospects. That crunch is going to force a lot of trades later this year (probably below FMV because of the number required to be moved). Adding White would only complicate matters, even though he looks like a great prospect.
I know Glasnow is hurt. This trade was put together to line up with Texas planning to contend in 2023-2024. I’ve seen Glasnow’s name surface as a potential trade candidate for the Rays as of late so I was curious what a deal could look like. No doubt Tampa Bay would turn around make Cy Young candidate out of White and Roby.
