I can appreciate your position but my opinion is that Severino is a strong candidate for DFA. Consider that the Brewers made the trade for Caratini when Severino put them in a bind with the 80 game suspension for PEDs/banned substances. Do you think they are happy about that? Additionally, Severino is on a 1 year, $1.9 million contract. That's a prove it contract and the missing half of the season doesn't help to inspire future confidence. They don't need 3 catchers right now and they can't wait for Severino to learn 1B. Additionally, the pitching staff has gained a level of comfort with "their" guys (Narvi and Caratini) behind the dish for a half season. I understand that rosters expand on 9/1, to 29 but, in baseball time, that is an eternity. The Brewers need to figure some things out in July before it is too late. The Angels don't have to worry about that. They have time. They are not going anywhere this year and they could have a find in Severino with limited risk. Finally, the Brewers kept Feliciano on the 40 man roster right now even after making a slew of moves (see later). You don't think they'd want him to get some playing time to spell Narvi and Caratini in garbage time and see what they have? What the Brewers need right now is roster flexibility and the ability to dump some salary. Why not attempt to get something in return for an asset (Severino) that really can't help you at this point instead of creating more dead money (Cain, etc...)? I say take a chance on someone that has great speed and range to play CF that can also help you with speed on the base paths. You trade a prorated $1.9 million contract for a prorated $390K contract? Why not? Also, I looked at Harrison's sample size for his MLB time. It is not that large. Why not give him two or 3 weeks to see what he can do? I don't think he has options left but ... no risk it no biscuit. Coming home worked for Jeffress, maybe it could work for Harrison. Have the hitting coaches work with him. The point is, you have to do something and I have a feeling the Brewers are gearing up to do something. The 40 man roster is at 39 right now. Corey Ray was booted from the 40 man, Chi Chi was DFA'd and they just let Dahl walk (DFA). Look at Dahl's numbers at Nashville. Why did they not give him a shot? That guy could have played CF in my opinion. Finally, I mentioned roster flexibility earlier. Unfortunately, they just had to send Hiura down to bring up Sadzeck because they need pitching. It is a dire situation. Just when Hiura is coming around at the plate he has to be sent down because of his defensive short comings (running face first into a fence to catch a ball aside: he takes bad angles and needs to do things like that to recover) and limp noodle throwing arm. Look at Hiura's offensive numbers below. That's perfect for a regular DH. Removing Severino also removes him from being considered as a DH.
