I don't know about this one. As a Braves fan, I think Kelly's ok but he's the back-of-a-rotation guy. I'm into the Braves getting the sort of pitcher who'll go deeper and will keep his team in the game, But Kelly's $8MM in 2023 and $8MM in '24. I just don't know if I like him at ages 34, 35 like that. If it was a "win-now" move on a guy, then I'd be thinking otherwise. I know the relativeness of $8MM/year and there sure is a need ... but I think I'd rather pass. Also, I still like Tucker Davidson more than this site values him. I'd rather not lop off more top-end of a deleted farm system but there's a need for a reliable arm in the rotation and help in the OF. I like David Peralta ok. Not the left-handed, power-hitting, OF bat that I'm looking for. He's ok. Doesn't move the needle for me in this trade and I'd rather this trade idea be more like Peralta for Victor Vodnik, straight up. Thinking as the Diamondbacks, they made that contract deal with Merrill Kelly and it suits them to have him rolling just as he is. Peralta can be flipped, and that'll work, but it's going to have be for a player they want to dive down on a prospect ranking list and grab Jenista and Vodnik.
