5Here’s our All Star Catcher. Thanks for your garbage!
Contreras and Robertson for Smith, Allan and Vientos is more realistic.
Featured trade on 7/25. Trade values match up but this seems like a big underpay for the Mets. Orze is a 24 year old relief “prospect” with an ERA of 5.35, Ziegler is a FV40 in low A, and Young is a FV35 org filler. Woof. This is barely above the value of a compensation pick ($8mil?) that the Cubs would receive by keeping Contreras and offering him a qualifying offer. Contreras has average framing stats this year. He’s one of the best hitters on the market and is easily the best overall catcher available. There are multiple teams looking for a catcher. I think this should create enough demand to push his trade value above the pocket change offered in this deal. If this is the best the Cubs are offered, I’d take the comp pick instead. Easy no for the Cubs.
Vientos on his own would be an overpay for Contreras and Robertson lol
Straight up Vientos for Contreras wouldn't suck but adding like Givens or Happ would be a nice add for the Mets. (Happ would mean Baty goes instead of Vientos though and Givens would add a PTBNL or cash)...
