Before applying your ups and downs, the thinking: 1- The Giants are done this year. Rodon will almost certainly opt out. So, minor sell off, get a couple nice prospects to boost your minor league system's depth, plus a potential piece for now, Andujar, who can play some outfield and some third base. Needs a change of scenery, but former runner up for Rookie of the Year, and beloved by Yankees fans with short term memory loss. 2- Cubs are in rebuild mode. Peraza gives them a shortstop who is likely ready for the show this year, and definitely next. Guy is sure handed, liable to stick, and has figured out triple A pitching after a rough start to the year (when it seems like two thirds of everyone was on the struggle bus). You also get a close to MLB starting pitcher in Wesneski. Sending you a Mercedes, to bolster your farm depth, and maybe he pans out. It's called a lottery ticket for a reason. Oh, and you get Gallo to take Happ's spot this year, and likely for cheap next year. His bat will play in Wrigley, and without the pressure of playing in New York, maybe you can expect Texas like results. Your team has been hitting this year, so maybe your hitting coach can help him regain that form a bit, and you get him for cheaper than Happ next season. He's still under 30, has two gold gloves in the OF, and can hit dingers and draw walks. If you like Patrick Wisdom, you could love Joey Gallo. 3- Yankees get: Two years of Happ in left field, providing some lefty/righty balance as a switch hitter. You get Rodon to be the #2 between Cole and Nestor, with Monty being the 4th playoff starter (or better, Sevy returns soon, and then you have Cole-Rodon-Nestor-Sevy, with Monty and Taillon to the pen (or Taillon off the playoff roster). You get old friend David Robertson to pitch the 8th or the 9th when Holmes isn't available. And you get some years with Effross to provide a deeper pen at the moment, and to help replace Britton and The Cuban Missile Crisis who are both free agents at the end of this year. It lets you keep Volpe for the future at SS and it keeps Dominguez developing in pinstripes. It also let's Waldichuk, Sears and maybe Schmidt compete for starts for next year, with Gil and Medina (assuming Taillon is allowed to walk and Sevy's option is declined).
