Not during the season. And not including Dominguez. And as far as Elvis Andrus... NO.

i was in the middle of typing this long comment below, but agreed not an in-season one here! i value murphy pretty highly as the As given the premium position, the 3-4 war per 150 game pace, the high marks on framing/defensive performance, and the 3 years of team control. i wonder how competitive an offer it would be without dominguez, though i debated keeping arias or wells out of it. all 3 of arias, wells and wesneski may be overkill, and dominguez may outgrow his position in this deal if he really wallops high A going forward (certainly an aspect that scares me as a Yankees fan). thinking about the As' priorities, this is the shape of a deal i landed on. the thinking with andrus is giving some value in taking his type of contract. hypothetically, it could help keep the prospect tally in a deal like this around 4 or even 3.

https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/trade-98289/ I like the idea, so give Peraza, who will be ready to go in 2023, if not already. Wesneski can probably start for the A's today. Pereira is closer to MLB, is hitting well in his first AA action with the Patriots, playing CF, and with a 4 game hit streak in his first 7 games. Wells has been promoted twice this year, after dominating High A, and he's hitting well with the Patriots as well. Gomez is a sweetener, give them some depth as he's currently in A-Ball in the Florida League. Yankees have IKF in house to do Elvis Andrus things. Volpe is murdering double A ball, and is only blocked for AAA by Peraza, who is only blocked by the team's ambitions and unwillingness to throw him into a pennant race. Volpe is a year younger, and the Yankees (and everyone) are higher on him, probably because he's not even gonna need Rule 5 protection yet. He'll be a spring training next year, maybe with a chance at breaking camp with the big team. Dominguez got off to a cold start in A+, got demoted, figured things out, and got promoted back. In 6 games in Hudson Valley, he's got a triple, a monster HR, and is still figuring things out with players 3 years older than he is. He's a good kid, but it's important to remember he's a kid. He impressed at the Futures Game, with a bomb at Dodger Stadium, right after a bad outfield drop. That shows some mental toughness. If he starts his age 20 year in AA, his value will jump considerably. I think selling him now is selling low. But if he is traded, it's gotta be for the kind of deal with a good chance of making a flag fly.

This would be an offseason one. Murphy has a track record of hitting at an above average clip (like 50 hit, 45-50 power). I love Trevino for his first half heroics and for his otherworldly framing, but this offseason might be the time to move him while there's still possibly a bit of shine left on his aggregate hitting performance in '22. Trevino can be a nice part-time and full-time in a pinch starting catcher on a good team, but Murphy would likely bring a lot more value over a long period of time. The As land a group of strong prospects and Gleyber Torres, who the As get two years of at arbitration price and ostensibly (for purposes of the makeup of the MLB roster) in exchange for Elvis Andrus' $15m 2023 player option. He can play a mixture of 2B/DH as Nick Allen comes along. Peraza arrives to form a strong future left side of the infield with Gelof; he should be ready for an outside shot at the SS job in spring training. Dominguez and Arias are two toolsy, high variance teenage prospects. The former is of course more than a lottery ticket as he may be ready for AA in his age 20 season. Austin Wells has a major league bat that will need to find a home in left/DH I'm assuming, and Wesneski is looking like a high-probability back-end rotation guy. I think the floor and ceiling of the As haul here are both considerable.

Down vote for Oakland. Torres doesn't have the 6 years of team control Oakland has sought in every deal they've made during the rebuild. Arias is a little far away, the A's tend not to pick guys who haven't made their full season debut. If this is an offseason deal it is probable Andrus is a FA as he projects to miss the PA trigger for his player option.

thanks for flagging andrus; zips has him projected for 545 pas, probably exactly correct 😂 are you saying the value for oakland is low, or just the likelihood that they'd accept is low? i could see an angle for oakland where gleyber has some resale value during the 2 seasons they have him under contract, but do get your angle that they don't want to take on the money and would rather just skip the step of resale for prospects. maybe the more useful major leaguer would be trevino, a major league catcher w 3 years of team control who could be a very capable bridge and then backup to langeliers. i have to imagine that if the As had an evaluation on arias at least similar to the rest of the industry that he would hold value for them as a toolsy middle infield prospect, but the yankees could definitely include others like yoendrys gomez, who has upside to be in a big league rotation (probably higher upside than wesneski). i'd hope the yankees are motivated to make a deal like this, and i think the yankees have the type of prospects the As would do well to accumulate.
