4NOTE: Ramos is NOT part of this proposed deal, lol - btv just wouldn't let me put this through with Cobb as the piece. A bit curious about the Cobb BTV AFV? This guy is, imo, a #3 if not #2 starter under team control including a club option (!?!?) for 3 years. His 4 ERA belies his healthily above average if not elite statcast under the hood metrics. I actually don't think it would be completely insane for Waldichuk to centerpiece the deal. The Giants potentially make this sort of move with the feeling that they'd otherwise be chasing 85 wins while..playing in the modern NL West division.

Cobb is worth about what he's making. The FA contract he signed was at fair value, and nothing much has changed that. He is pitching well this year, but he has a long track record of being average-ish, with some injury history to boot, and aging curves generally aren't kind to older pitchers -- he'll be 35 and 36 in those next two years.
thanks John, fair enough - i was a bit surprised because if i look at cobb over this past 1.5 seasons it seems like he’s hitting 2 fwar or thereabouts without even getting to 100ip. that makes sense though, if its projected that he could produce 2-3 fwar over the entirety of 23-25 due to injuries amplifying the aging curve, then that surplus from this year gets cancelled
