8It seems that this is not just a Billy Beane-esque move, but it seems that it gives the Brewers the Centerfielder they want/need and a defensive catcher that is an upgrade defensively for their post-season run.
Brewers have three catchers already. They certainly don't need a very weak hitting backup just to send him down to AAA. Laureano is way overrated and a negative dWAR defender. He was so bad in CF the A's moved him to a corner. No thanks.
Down vote for Oakland. Taylor doesn't have the team control the A's have asked for in every deal. They don't need Turang, they plan to give Nick Allen the 6 in 2023. If he flops then they'll look elsewhere. With those two out the deal is no good.
Quero, Black and Kelly would be plenty to get Laureano. The owner of this site even admitted they have too high if a value on him. He will be lowered later today
And when Laureano's value is lower I'm more than willing to find a match on the new number.
So you blindly follow the site’s values?
I find the site's values to be fairly accurate. Trying to model a value on hundreds if not thousands of players is going to come with some sideways looks on a few. I'll be surprised if Laureano loses more than half his value in the next update, which is what would have to happen for your claim that Quero, Black, Kelly would be "plenty" for Laureano. But skipping the values completely... Oakland's organizational strengths are MI and Catcher so I don't see Black and Quero being high on their list. Their needs are pitching and in the outfield.
The problem is a 104+ OPS hitter with negative dWAR in CF does not get 3-4 T10 organizational prospects.
