I don't understand this trade for the Rays. They enter 2023 with the following group of guys vying for roles in the rotation: McClanny (CY Young Contender), Glasnow (Cy Young Contender), Rasmussen (2.5 - 3.5 fWAR starter), Springs (2.5 - 3.5 fWAR starter), Baz (top 15 prospect before losing rookie status), Patino (former top prospect who might still develop), Bradley (current top 25 prospect), Fleming (gets BABIP'd every time he pitches, but a decent 5th option), and Chirinos (former #3-5 starter coming back from injury). That's one hell of a starting rotation as is, with a couple really good arms on the bench. What would the Rays do with another 2 mid-rotation to TOR arms? More to the point, the Rays need bats, and particularly bats that perform in October. That's Arozarena. Rays say no to this trade (and it's not a particularly hard decision).
