I think Adames is far too valuable to the Brewers for them to make this trade. Anderson would be a 7th starter/long guy in the pen. Bannon will be 27 and no help. McHugh is a relief pitcher. D'Arnaud will be 34 and would help, but it fills one position just take away at another. Not enough to come close to making up for the loss of Adames.
hypo; I just don't see a 34 year old catcher, a 36 year old relief pitcher, and two guys who won't make a difference as a maximum return. Bannon is a 27 year old 2B who would be organizational depth at AAA. Anderson isn't much more than a swing man, fill in and the Brewers have multiple guys for that role. Milwaukee does have a catcher, Feliciano (.274/.326), who they need to see what he can do in the big leagues. Almost everybody not familiar with the Brewers underestimates the value that Adames brings to the team. There is no better example than the Hader trade. The Brewers' GM underestimated everything Hader meant to the team and the Brewers were under .500 after he left.
The Brewers are very cost-conscious and I think they will move one of Burnes/Woodruff this offseason for a big haul. Anderson could help backfill the rotation, D’Arnaud holds down C until Quero comes up, and Turang is about as ready as he’ll ever be to take over at SS. This allows them to focus on getting the maximum return for one of their premium SP without concern for position or MLB proximity.
