I somehow doubt the Royals would consider trading Mitchell, but if he’s available, I would love to see the Rays find a way to acquire him. This is an ideal trade proposal from the Rays standpoint, notwithstanding the “overpay.” The Rays have the #1 outfield in baseball this year with multiple breakout stars. They almost need to trade 1-2 guys during the season because sending someone down to Durham would be criminal at this point. Morel is hitting 122 wRC+ through 4/17 and would help the Royal immensely. He’s under control for 4 more years. Mead is a former top prospect who needs a fresh start. He could still be something special but I don’t see that happening with the Rays. The Royals have plenty of catching but damn do they need more offense. This trade helps in that regard. If Royal fans aren’t interested in these guys, then propose a counteroffer for Mitchell. Just know that Misner and Mangum’s trade values are much higher than before the season started.
