Damn.... imagine if this trade happened. The Rays would have effectively traded a top 100 prospect (Manzardo) for Canario. What an awful trade tree...

That's what happens when the FO has The Smartest Kid in the Room Syndrome, there's starting to be a lot of those adding up, look how the Sanchez for Mead has flipped flopped, this way at least they get a wildcard OF for a SS that won't be a starter here, Canerio and Morel are a little too similiar to me but at least Canerio will be passable in the OF.

There’s no excusing the Manzardo for Civale trade, but at least they cut their losses relatively quickly. Barrios isn’t my favorite prospect but he has a very high floor because of the defense. One of him or Santana is the Rays likely utility infielder of the future because of their defense. Canario doesn’t do much for me though.

Yea that seemed like a panic move to me, not there usual style, I don't have a huge amount of hope for Canario but there's still a tool set there to use compared to what else they have, I look at it more of an OF of Morel, DeLuca, Lowe, and Palacios as a ton of question marks with all 4 guys and the only other 2 OFers on the 40 man are Misner and Mangun so this is a disaster waiting to happen, I'd rather try Jimenez as the CF before having to call them up lol

I’m pretty optimistic actually. I fully expect a rebound year from Josh and Palacios is a pretty good bet to put up 2ish fWAR and 100-110 wRC+ if he stays healthy. Morel and DeLuca are wildcards. I can make cases for and against them. Of course, if one struggles too much, he probably loses his spot to C.Simpson come June/July.
