3Cubs acquire this year’s Hector Neris. Another aging reliever on the downhill of his career whose peripherals are all trending South. Another 9+ million wasted. No bullpen ace, no playoff contention. Stupid Jed.
Yeah. Neris, ex-Astro, trending downward, for 9 mil in 2024. Pressley, trending downward, from Houston, 8.5 mil in 2025. Rea replaces Hendricks, except at a high cost. Boyd replaces Smyly, except at a higher cost. Hopefully, this group is a little better overall. If you've followed the Cubs as long as I have, you see that not a whole lot changes, year after year. Especially with this regime. Always coming in second or third for the top free agents Ohtani (1st time), Scott, this year, etc. Penchant for righty relievers on the downsides of their careers--Kimbrel, Neris, Boxberger, Davis, Pressly, etc. Trying to Kris Bryant or bury their minor leaguers (Hopefully, Shaw is different). I could go on, but what's the point?
Werent the cubs the one to sign Neris?
