I don't believe Horwitz has as much as allotted to him here, but I would love for the Rays to see how much it would take to get him. This trade jump starts the Pirates near constant rebuild. They get much better at 1B, and much better at SS. Their division sucks, and they should try to win it this year, with all teams in division looking like pretenders. Fangraphs pegs the Cubs as the best in the division at 40 team WAR, the Cards and Brewers at 38 team WAR, and the Pirates at 34 team WAR. This trade vaults them up to essentially equal footing as the Cards and Brewers, 2 wins being the Cubs. For the Rays, they get a 27 year old rookie who looked really impressive in his rookie year. Hits the ball really hard, great BB:K, dare I say 6 years of Yandy lite? The Rays also get rid of sorry ass Rohrvedt, who had a good BABIP month and then shit the bed for the rest of the season. 5 years of a catcher of Endy Rodriguez's caliber is something they have never had. Caballero will be missed, but he's a backup IF on a team full of backup IF. He can be replaced in house.
