2The Cubs are in a winnable division and hopefully they plan on extending Tucker. By adding Shane, they have a top 3 that can compete with anyone (and would have all 3 pitchers for at least next 3 years). Eventually Shaw will move to 2nd and they will need a 3B, but Triantos has already proven that is not his position in the bigs. For the Rays..... hate losing Shane, but they are probably not competing for a playoff spot this year and he would probably be traded the next year. They get 2 young SP who both have 5 years of control; a possible LH OF power bat (hopefully he can cut the K's down just a little) and MP..... I know you are not a fan of Triantos, but the bat is what they would be buying and hopefully they could turn him into an OF/DH.
It’s an interesting trade. I don’t think it’s likely before the Deadline though because McClanny hasn’t pitched since TJS yet.
