I really like the idea of this trade. But IMO the Twins are giving up too much. Besides having a 4.9 deficit, Miranda is terribly underrated. If Miranda was left at 1B last season to remain healthy. He'd have really mashed & his value would go through the roof. Not sure that BOS would let Casas go for this deal.

This feels like a win-win-win as long as the Sox still want Castillo whom they offered Casas for but were declined earlier this offseason. In exchange the M’s receive 2 IF’s with lots of team control that they can mix and match at 3B, 2B, and 1B at league minimum rates. This move also gives the M’s $25m more in payroll room to add pitching depth, bullpen, or whatever they feel they need to compete for the down AL-West. The Sox get a proven workhorse and mature playoff-caliber SP in Castillo. They can also finally move on from Casas by moving Devers to 1B and finalizing a transaction for either Arenado or Bregman. The Twins have too much IF depth and no definitive answer at 1B. Julien’s at risk of getting pushed off 2B by Royce Lewis and/or Brooks Lee. Miranda’s never slugged enough to make 1B an ideal landing spot. MN would be consolidating their IF depth by upgrading to Triston Casas. There are other variations/pieces that could take place like including Chris Paddack to the M’s if they feel they need the SP depth also Boston could use a better backup C and Christian Vazquez paired with a little money to offset his contract could be on the move there. This extra money for the Twins could help them round out their roster heading into to Spring Training.
