Are you a Reds guy or a Dodgers guy?
Dodgers. McClain would actually fill a need with the Dodgers at SS. Rushing and the two prospects would really help the Reds as well.
I'm a Dodger fan also. Would like to see if we could get some Reds fans to sign on to this deal.
I am a Reds fan and I vote no on every day that ends in the letter Y. And bringing up the word why, why would we make this trade? We have a good catcher. Reds trying to win this year. Reds need offense now. Why would we trade our starting 2B who arguably is our second best hitter who makes peanuts for a minor league catcher, even a good one? I MIGHT counter with Pages, Rushing for Mclain, Tyler Stevenson IF Rushing is ready to come up this year. Dodgers can buy just about anyone and anytime so if they really want Mclain they can overpay a bit for him. Reds really need a decent OF like yesterday.
If I were a Reds fan, I'd insist the Dodgers overpay also. Rushing is actually very versatile. In the minors, he's not only spent time as a catcher but also as a DH, first baseman and outfielder. Whatever you need, he can do it. If McClain actually had a longer MLB track record and wasn't coming off a serious injury, I might actually consider your trade, especially since we have his younger brother in our system already.
Hey Blue. Well everyone says McClain is fully recovered. Pretty sure Dodgers would check that out before making a trade so don't see where that is an issue. He has a huge ceiling. Good to know about Rushing's versatility but his true value to the Reds would be at catcher if we sent Stevenson over in the trade. That along with Pages to fill our OF need. Yes I think Dodgers would be giving a bit of an overpay but not a big one and not something they could easily absorb. Must be nice being a Dodger fan. Stay well.
Yes, it's great being a Dodger fan. We have ownership with seemingly unlimited amounts of money to spend coupled with a really great front office which knows what to do with it. I can see where other fans would hate us. Now we just need to sign Sasaki and Scott. :)
If they do hate the Dodgers their hate is misplaced. What the Dodgers do is within the rules. If they want to hate something, as I do, I hate the rules that allow such wide disparity. There is going to be a work/season stoppage once the CBA ends to try and address this and it's going to probably be long and ugly but IMHO it is long overdue.
Can't argue with those sentiments, although I think your best bet is to just make your owner sell to Musk or Bezos.
