Ok. This is weird. I started this trade as a 3 teamer but took the Red Sox out before posting. Not sure why they were added back (and the values are completely thrown off now).

Anyway, just ignore the Red Sox portion of the trade. This trade is Yandy Diaz for 4 prospects. With the Diamondbacks signing Burnes, any thought of a step back year is now forgotten and the Diamondbacks need to shore up their weak spots, which now includes 1B with the loss of Walker. Rays are looking ahead to 2026, and don’t mind parting with Diaz for the right return.

Diamondbacks acquired Josh Naylor from the Guardians for right-hander Slade Cecconi and a Competitive Balance Round B draft pick, but could probably still use the bat. 🥳🥂🎶

Yeah, I forgot that. Diaz is better, but the position is now filled (though the D-Backs could use a DH).

Clark Trades

Rays get nothing out of this really. I think they'd prefer to do a two-team trade if this is the lowly return they'd get out of a two team trade. Naylor just getting traded to the D-backs also really hurts this offer.

Are you basing that on the quality of prospects going back to TBR or because they are all far off? I like the prospects, though I like other teams’ prospects better, and I don’t care about helping 2025 because the Rays won’t be all that competitive either way.
