1If the Twins window is closed, it makes sense to sell pieces that won’t be a part of the next core coming up between 2025-2028. Lopez is a FA after the 2027 season and the Twins won’t pay him. Shipping him to the Tigers is rough being they are division rivals. The Tigers certainly do not want to give up any prospects that are nearly MLB ready right now. So in part to pay the division tax, I sent Max Clark who is an amazing prospect and multiple years away back to the Twins, and a pick so the Twins can decide who they want to draft and develop as part of their next core. Tigers would certainly hurt losing Clark but I think getting Lopez on a win now team would be massive for them and in a time where the AL is certainly up for grabs, I could see this propelling the Tigers to bid for a World Series spot with Skubal/Lopez at the top of that rotation. The Twins would then have a nucleus of Walker Jenkins, Emanuel Rodriguez, and Max Clark coming up in the outfield around 2026 to pair with Brooks Lee, Royce Lewis (if he gets paid) and Matt Wallner who can move to 1B. Not to mention they’d still have an older Buxton and possibly Correa if he isn’t moved.
