At first glance, Cruz's value looks high. He's 34. But at the same time, he's been highly effective, his underlying peripherals are very strong, and he has five years of control. Looks like a steal for the Yankees.

Apologies, we just realized that Cruz has four years of control, not five. His surplus value should have been listed as 10.7. Still high, but not nearly the overpay we first thought.
