Down vote for the A's. Cleveland decided he wasn't worth a spot on the big league roster and I think they might be right.

It seems like Arias has never been a favorite of the Cleveland management for whatever reason, and yes trading him at this point would seem a bit like dropping dead weight in a sense. That being said there are some very intriguing aspects to Arias game. He has power, cannon for an arm, pretty decent speed, and was a top 100 prospect just a couple years ago. Whether the A's would be interested in him, I don't know, but I would think at this price there would still be a team willing to take a shot on the 24 y/o.
There are/were intriguing aspects to his game but Cleveland let him rot on on the bench and at this point, no one knows if he can hit big league pitching. He's out of minor league options (unless he qualifies for a 4th) and I think he ends up DFA'd in the Spring. He's a cash considerations trade if someone was really eager to give him a try-out and I think Forst is aiming higher for his 3B.
Arias actually defensively is legit 3B and has the power... Problem is Francona liked Arias, Vogt hasn't so I wonder if last season was because of that... Arias killed righties in 23... He is a super aggressive swinger, that's really what's hurt him
Arias on a fair amount of teams would have made the roster... It's more mental than physical and he did really well down at AAA and has done well this off season... Don't forget he's young... That being stated, he's competing for a bench spot, so at the end of spring, he could be traded IF he won't make the roster... I expect him to make it in some role...
