Honeycutt would not be traded in this deal and they wont waste Kjerstad on a 1 year rental

Kjerstad could be negotiable, but without Honeycutt or Bradfield as the headliner, I don’t think Preller does it. He can afford to wait until the deadline; the Orioles can’t. I’m sure Elias would rather deal for one of DiPoto’s young starters, but I don’t see that happening. He would want Mayo or Basallo, and I think they’re untouchables. So where else do you go?

The Orioles will look for a similar trade package for what they gave up last year for Burnes. McDermott and Beavers will be the starting points for all trades as the top 4 is untouchable or they are mind blown by the offer given for them

I actually based this on the Burnes trade: Hall = Rogers; #34 pick = Honeycutt; Ortiz = Kjerstad (remember, Ortiz was MLB Pipeline’s #63 prospect in baseball… I think Kjerstad got up to #80). If the O’s would be willing to part with a young pitcher (which I doubt), your proposal could be enough. I just think they will be far more willing to deal from their position player strength. And again…if the O’s don’t get Cease, I have a hard time seeing where they get their ace. You either spend big for Burnes, or trade a lot for someone else.
