4Interesting proposal.
I'm going to have to say No. The A's need a 3B. And adding an arm with mid-rotation potential is always appealing. But the A's are spending heavy (in dollars and draft capital) to compete/contend in the next two years and a key component of that plan lies in Gelof looking more like the '23 version of himself than the '24. There's a good chance the A's would regret passing on this offer in 6 months time.

No. It would close the value gap but it wouldn't change my position. The trouble is Forst has set the team on such a foolish path that the only way it can succeed is by committing fully to the foolishness. Half measures, much like his teardown trades that sought to thread the needle on their returns, will only doom the team. In this case that means betting on a Gelof rebound.
