330 days ago Fernando Tatis, Jr. was at 35.2, he’s picked up almost 100 in value, what’s changed in those 30 days?
New projections were published, which we incorporated; we adjusted our $/WAR to account for the inflation we're seeing in the market; and because Tatis has 13 years left on his contract, any change to field value is multiplied by 13, while the salary number is constant. This causes volatility in the surplus number, which is the difference between those two.
100 in value in 30 days seems to volatile, he didn’t sign a new contract, no games are currently being played, he didn’t get traded to a team affording him much better opportunities to produce, it just doesn’t feel right.
