Velazquez wouldn't be available for a rental... Plus Ortiz acquisition makes them unlikely to Naylor...

I'm just posting what I think the framework would be for a Framber Valdez deal. I completely understand that Ralphy Velazquez probably won't be traded for something like this, but it is probably what the Astros would want in order to lock down a position that their farm system has a massive weakness in (Velazquez's projected ETA is Late 2027, which lines up perfectly with when Paredes hits UFA) I still think Josh Naylor is available in trade talks, as the Guardians already have Manzardo ready, and CJ Kayfus could be ready within two months. Not to mention, Jhonkensy Noel has been putting in work at the 1B position as a RHH, as to open the door for a Manzardo/Noel platoon should the Guardians acquire an Outfield bat at some point this offseason.

As a Guardians person, I can point out two fairly big issues right now with what was stated... One, Kayfus just got to AA... Cleveland is normally conservative with hitters... They normally have to hit a certain AB/game threshold at each level... Kayfus won't hit his MLB debut time until next summer... Now with Naylor likely a free agent at the moment in 26... that might get sped up, but Kayfus is actually still behind Pries in the depth chart starting the 25 season. Kayfus first half is at AA and second half at AAA more than likely... Next is the fact Cleveland needs proven MLB hitters... Noel and Manzardo are not proven hitters... Noel also still has holes in his batting. Cleveland needs Naylor's veteran presence behind JRam if they are to be a playoff team in 25... IF they move Naylor, they have to find a veteran FA/veteran bat to replace him in the lineup... I really can't see how they can get the 30/100 within reason... I see the normal lineup vs RHP personally being LF Kwan, 2B Brito, 3B JRam, 1B/DH Naylor, CF Thomas, 1B/DH Manzardo, RF Brennan/Noel, C Naylor, SS Rocchio... With Arias, Hedges, Schneeman as the bench guys... Martinez could take a spot as well... They just internally cannot replace Naylor's production in 25... 26 With DeLauter coming sometime in 25 and Kayfus being ready, I think they can... Not in 25 though...
