3This trade made me think. The upside is great, but the downside is equally large. Frasso had a shoulder injury last year. I would avoid him like the plague. Ryan will miss all of 2025 recovering from TJS (and lose a year of control as a result), but he could be great if returns fully. Brecht could be a TOR if he develops control, but will he? Carrigg is intriguing. He has a gun and wheels, but he seems like a man without a position (ie: he probably can’t play SS or CF to the Rays standards) and his bat may not play if he isn’t playing a premium defensive spot. Veen and Calaz are ok. Ultimately I don’t think the Rays need 3 outfielders added to their system (which includes Carrigg, as he played the vast majority of games last year in CF)
I think with Ryan I'm taking the chance even though he's hurt, i compare him and Brecht to Baz, River to the post surgery and Brecht the prospect Baz, I forgot about Frasso being hurt cause of the shoulder, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me necessarily but definitely would want to see that physical, Zeen I like as the LF and I like Calaz's bat a lot, I think those 2 guys are a little under appreciated as far as prospects go, would rather have Zeen over Beck, Carrigg is kinda like the ultimate Ray, I wouldn't give him a spot he would be Zobriest 2.0, he would be very valuable with matchups and injury insurance at multiple positions plus he would bring more hustle to an organization that is needing some more spark.
It’s just a lot of value being given up for not a lot of sure things (as prospects go). I would probably remove Fasso, Veen and Carrigg from the trade and go with a smaller trade package.
