Obviously, with my name, I am a Phillies fan, but I think this could benefit all parties. The Mariners have a problem bringing in bats due to the ballpark. This brings in two high-contact players with multiple years of control. The Mariners would have a dynamic defensive middle infield and a much deeper lineup. In addition, they would get a young, toolsy prospect who could eventually replace Crawford. For the Cubs, they clear 19M in Suzuki and 11.5M in Horner, only taking back an est 11.3 in Suarez. He'd fit in with the rotation as another softer tossing LHP though I don't know if that is actually what they would want. It seems they want to make a run at Crochet. This may make moving another pitcher more fesilbe, but also gives them a SP with a playoff pedigree and a guy who looked like a Cy Young contender in the first half of the year. For the Phillies, Suzuki's bat would replace Bohm's as the high-contact RH hitter to balance out the lineup. It doesn't seem that the Phillies have a chance at Roki Sasaki, and the competition for Crochet is getting serious. I don't think they can compete with a package from the Red Sox, Cubs, or Reds. If they want a young SP, the Ms could be the best trade partner, and I don't think there is another GM that would appreciate the 200+ innings of Logan Gilbert as much as Dave Dombroski.
