I don't see Cubs requiring Stroman. He would just be an everyday reminder of how they held onto him too long at the 2023 trade deadline. He had an ERA in the low 2's. Instead of getting ahead of the market, Stupid Jed overplayed his hand, Stroman got hurt, then opted out of his contract later on. I'm convinced they could have traded him to the Astros for the same players Mets got for Verlander--Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford. The Stros wanted him.
