3Rays are looking to shed some vets and Fairbanks seems like an obvious candidate. He missed a lot of time due to various minor injuries last year, and the Rays Pen improved over time with new blood. Fairbanks plays best in hotter temps, so Arizona (which had the 22nd best Pen last year) is a good fit. In return for Fairbanks, Arizona gives up a backup catching prospect (which the Rays desperately need), and a SP and RP pitching prospect.
I've been wanting Del Castillo for several years but I don't they'll trade him after the past 2 years, his numbers are crazy, if I was them I'd try him at 1B too
They may need a 1B by OD. Still, outside looking in they need pitching help and Fairbanks is a pretty good pitcher, particularly at less than $4MM per year.
