Trevino is a fantastic receiver and caller, but the Yankees need to address how easily the bottom falls out of their lineups. Murphy offers high-end hitting production from the spot as well as fantastic defensive performance. The A's have little outlook for competing, a couple of very good MLB catcher prospects, and are actively feeding Murphy's cash value into the compactor each trade season that they don't move him. Peraza has significantly more plate potential than Allen, who needs to hit at least a little bit more in order to hang on as the kind of plus fielding utility piece all good teams like. King was a revelation in 2022 before his broken elbow; as far as arm injuries go, this is one that shouldn't hurt King's appeal as a strong flip candidate whenever his production crests over the next 3 years of TC. Finally, throw-in Florial is a nice candidate to fight for at-bats in the OAK 2023 outfield. Worst-case scenario is waiving him over to the Pirates after a couple-months-long, 40% k-rate outing. There may very well be a better offer out there (the Astros hypothetically should be intrigued), but Peraza is a fair-probability plus everyday shortstop with zeroes on his service time clock, and King is multi-inning relief ace material. From the Yankees perspective, this is one of few non-9-figure opportunities to significantly improve the 2023 product.

Down vote for Oakland. I agree, the A's have little chance of competing. So why are they spending so much trade value on a RP with a broken arm and only three years of team control? They can sign a FA RP if they want to want to try and flip someone at the Trade Deadline. Florial isn't any good and is out of minor league options; he's in the same boat as Pache and Oakland shouldn't add another no-hit, pseudo-prospect that has to stay on the 26 man roster or be exposed to waivers. Peraza is a good prospect but I'd rather the A's not invest so much at the SS position this offseason. They should give the at bats to Allen and see if he can make the necessary adjustments.
