4On an average season, Brent Rooker and Spencer Steer are pretty similar players, so I don’t get why either team would do this trade. Especially the Reds who have to give up Chase Petty here.
I agree with allstar, this is a very aggressive offer from Cincinnati and probably too aggressive. IIRC the A's had interest in Steer when they were shopping Montas at the deadline in 2022 so him and Petty probably gets the deal done without including Dunn or Benson. If the A's want a cherry on top they'd probably ask for someone like Wiemer, as he's shown a better glove in CF.
Reds are paying too much.
Hmm. Not sure how you figure Steer and Rooker are similar players. Of course I am going by 2024 stats only. What could a guy like that hit in GABP? I salivate at the thought lol. Reds have needed a big bopper for a LONG time. Steer .225 average. 20 HR. 25 SB. 1.47 WAR Rooker .293 average. 39 HR. 11 SB. 5.5 WAR.
