1Mariners need a productive bat that doesn’t strike out all that much. Diaz is that bat. Rays need to look to the future. Rays may like Peete but they stocked up on Peete clones at the deadline. I think Arroyo helps their system more than Peete would at this point. Sloan is a high upside pitching prospect. Mariners won’t want to trade him but getting a bat like Diaz will be awfully tempting. Taylor rounds out the trade and is immediately added to the Rays bullpen options for next year.
