2Why for Yankees: -Get off Lemahieu’s contract -Essentially take an extra 22 Million AAV on, but get a youngish 1B and 2B for next two years. -I know giving up their top prospect to a division rival (especially one with excellent development) is a choice, but like it or not any of the other trades the Yankees could use him for would require more key prospect pieces. I don’t consider Warren or Lalane that. Why for Cubs: -Essentially an offset in salary (Bellinger-27.5 AAV vs. Yandy and Lemehieu -25 AAV) plus they get a key bullpen arm in fairbanks and an up & down guy in Warren. Why for Rays: -Yes I will hear that the Rays don’t trade big pieces w/the Yankees. As a principle. That is true. But here they would be getting a top 100 prospect and some other intriguing pieces. First time for everything right? -$15 million for use of a stadium for a year is a steal. So they owe us a little bit here for Steinbrenner Field usage. Haha. Just kidding..it was a joke. A bad one at that. Glad everyone is ok from those storms.
ROFL…. Not gonna happen from the Rays standpoint. First, Rays don’t just refuse to trade big pieces to the Yankees. To my knowledge, they have only traded guys for cash considerations. It’s kind of weird considering they have traded pretty good players to the Orioles and Red Sox, but it is what it is. As for Jones.., oh hell no. That dude and his 40% k rate is not a top prospect for anyone who isn’t a Yankees homer. Rays should want no part of him.
