3The Cardinals can look to move either Matz or Fedde out of the rotation to take on Montgomery. The Diamondbacks could move Suarez to 1st base and have Arenado at 3B. Both teams want to move on from their respective trade chip. Makes some sense to do this.
Actually, a pretty good idea. Monty's on a 1 year option so it shortens the payroll commitment for the Cards and Monty was really good for us in '23. I like it.
I think a deal like this might be the only way the Cardinals get out from under Arenado this Off-season. There are too many players on potentially better contracts that make moving Arenado very difficult.
